How to Structure a Pool Maintenance Round
An efficient maintenance round groups client sites by geography and assigns each to a consistent day of the week. This reduces drive time, gives clients a predictable schedule, and leaves capacity for reactive call-outs and new business.
Most solo pool engineers manage 30–40 recurring sites, fitting 6–8 visits into a full working day. The key is matching site duration to available hours: a standard residential pool visit takes 30–45 minutes, a hot tub 20–30 minutes, and a commercial pool with compliance requirements 60–90 minutes.
Capacity Planning
This planner includes a capacity indicator for each day. With roughly 8 hours available (after driving and lunch), aim for no more than 6.5–7 hours of on-site time. Running at 100% capacity means one emergency wrecks your week — keep 15–20% buffer for reactive work and overruns.
